Hinrich Baller
The sixth BDA portrait interviews Hinrich Baller. On the initiative of architect Carola Schäfers, writer Erika Mühlthaler and filmmaker Fred Plassmann interviewed 17 Berlin architects and city planners from March 2011 until Januar 2017 as part of an extensive engagement with the 100 year old history of the BDA (Association of German Architects) Berlin. Hinrich Baller (1936) established his own style through a variety of buildings in Berlin (e.g. the Baller residential house at the Winterfeldtplatz) by combining a seemingly organic form language with modern building materials like concrete, steel and glass. In the interview he speaks critically about Berlins post-war urban planning program and its Critical Reconstruction.
