Dealing with rainwater as a key factor for a livable and sustainable Berlin – whether green roofs, façade greening, rainwater swales or urban infiltration systems, good rainwater management is needed to adapt to the future urban climate. The Berliner Regenwasseragentur provides support in planning and implementing sustainable stormwater measures, which are not optional and icing on the cake, but mandatory since the reform of urban development funding in 2011. The short film series Gutes Klima?! commisioned in 2020 by the Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung und Wohnen uses three redevelopment projects in the Müllerstraße/Turmstraße, Karl-Marx-Straße/Sonnenallee and Adlershof development areas to show how the promotion of vibrant neighborhoods can go hand in hand with urban climate adaptation.
