High Decks – my home
High Decks – my home
From bridge to bridge – in the course of an urban planning competition, the two architects Oefelein and Freund turned their vision into reality at the southern end of Sonnenallee in Berlin. A development in which footpaths and streets are consistently separated by superimposed bridges – the namesake high-decks – leaving more space for neighborhoods and nature. Underneath are the streets and more than 1,000 parking spaces and garages. In addition to the buildings and their specific use, the film also focuses on the coexistence in the neighborhood and the rules associated with it, as both elements are crucial to depicting the High Decks as a ‘home’.
