The Empty Dwelling, the Vain Tower and the Mad Colonist

The architectural sculpture park in Berlin-Mitte is an art project located on fallow land near the Berlin Wall. In the middle of the ongowing growth of Berlin’s urbanity, this area has an extraordinary power of attraction – it inspires artists to use this area for their individual works. Built out of plywood and roof laths, the helical sculpture arises from a pile of demolition waste and rises towards the sky – certainly not as high as the surrounding modernist buildings, but yet remarkable defiant in their daintiness … Eventually, the latter one became the sculptures’ downfall…
