Shulman’s Tel Aviv Architecture

Ben-Ami Shulman (1907-1986) was posthumously recognized as one of the significant 1930’s modernist architects of the White City of Tel Aviv, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2003. Shulman did not discuss this work after he left Israel in 1947 to practice in Montreal and Los Angeles. His son Uzi, also architect, considers possible explanations for this mystifying fact and compares the Tel Aviv buildings in the 1930’s with their current conditions.
