Sleuk Rith Institute Cambodia

The Sleuk Rith Institute – institution and genocide memorial in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh – was founded by Youk Chhang, a human rights activist and investigator of the Khmer Rouge atrocities. It brings together a museum, research centre, graduate school and will house the Documentation Centre of Cambodia’s one million documents, the largest archive on the Khmer Rouge period.

The sacred like design by Zaha Hadid Architects presents a structure formed from great timber columns that split and entwine, inspired by the writhing roots that enlace the ancient stone temples.
