Hands-On Urbanism, 1850 – 2012

The exhibition at the Architecture Centre Vienna is dedicated to a history of ideas of land acquisitions in urban areas. Since the modernization shock of industrialization cities are faced with difficult challenges worldwide. In crisis situations, city dwellers, however, have always been finding their own solutions. They conduct their own urban development.
On the basis of  many years of international research curator Elke Krasny presents historical and contemporary case studies of worldwide urban development from the bottom.
