Collaborative Building

Based on the Thai-Burmese border, a.gor.a Architects work on social projects in developing communities. Having spent years working alongside locals, their work combines traditional building techniques with sustainable practices.

Mae Tao Clinic is a humanitarian organization that besides free medical treatment, provides shelters and dry food for over 3000 children and also started an education program in health care. The site close to the Burmese border receives a daily flow of refugees and immigrants due to the persisting armed conflict in the Kayin state of Myanmar. Space at the Clinic had been completely taken up with the need to serve the ever-increasing volume of patients.

Built using as many recycled materials as possible a.gor.a architects have designed the new clinic campus as well as temporary, low-cost dormitories and training classrooms.
