The Great New York Architecture Patch
Emily Walek’s design project proposes an interactive waterscape for art making on the Hudson River. It was developed in her final semester of Pratt Institute’s Master of Architecture program. Inspired by the way garbage suspends and floats in water, she created an architectural proposal that would transport the visitor to a similar space with unique gravitational forces and a temporal connection to the tides. Each platform has different, calibrated levels of buoyancy and together they form a network of changing spaces that redefine the artist’s experience of water, time, and gravity.
