Centre for International Light Art Unna

The Centre for International Light Art in Unna is the world’s first and only museum dedicated exclusively to light art. Opened at the end of May 2001 in the former Lindenbrauerei in Unna, light art will find a stage as fascinating and effectively which could not be more visible from afar by its 52-meter-rise chimney, this contemporary art form uses has a total area of 2,400 square meters deep under the ground. Meanwhile, twelve of the most internationally renowned light artists have created a permanent installation, developed specifically for the vaulted cellar of the Unnaer industrial monument: Mario Merz, Joseph Kosuth, James Turrell, Mischa Kuball, Rebecca Horn, Christina Kubisch, John Dinnebier, Keith Sonnier, Jan van Munster, François Morellet , Christian Boltanski and Olafur Eliasson.

And now the highlight is the new installation by James Turrell, which puts a piece of heaven at the foot of the visitor…
