See Know Love

Maria Rohof’s fascination for the Loop and the city of Chicago grew into this short documentary called SEE KNOW LOVE about the Loop and it’s larger meaning for us as humans. The Loop know as the Union Loop was finished in 1897. And since then it brings several qualities to the city such as: the experience of the elevated/view on the city, the crumpling/imploding effect, grid awareness, transparency, orientation point, sound and traffic flow/movement etc. These qualities are still present after almost 120 years.

Maria Rohof started researching the surrounded building blocks next to this elevated Loop focusing on traces, history and the sociological side of architecture.

The project was a collaboration of the Complex Project studio from the TU Delft and Archeworks in Chicago.
